LGBTQ Teen Support Group

LGBTQ Teen Support Group

About our Support Group

Our Support groups are ideal for teens who identify as LGBT: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, or Questioning.

Research has shown that LGBTQ  teens tend to experience negative mental health problems due to the prejudice and other biases they face. In addition to this, studies have also shown that queer people are at higher risk for depression, anxiety, and addiction or substance abuse.

Unfortunately, being a teen is hard enough. Add the complexity of trying to accept your identity while risking rejection and isolation; it can be overwhelming.

Presently, there is little to no support for teens and it is for this very reason that The Good Center has decided to become the community leader in providing the first LGBTQ Support group, exclusively for teens.

  • All our groups are confidential and ideal for teens between the ages of 15-19.
  • We have open groups which mean anyone can join the group.
  • We are a primarily a supportive process group which means we share thoughts and feelings.
  • We share coping strategies and provide psychoeducation.
  • Participation and sharing is not mandatory but encouraged. The heart of this process group is you, the participant.
  • Limited space available (no more than 6 per group)

If it is noted that your teen requires more treatment and more attention than the group can provide, Latreanna will make a clinical decision and inform the parent (for minors) or the participant for those 18 and over.

About our group facilitator

Latreanna White is not only our group facilitator but also one who identifies at Lesbian.

Latreanna has been there...

She has gone through the process of Questioning and Acceptance and would be able to fully empathize and understand your child's path.
